Top 9 Accomplishments

Here's a list of Charles McGlashan's top accomplishments from his first three years as Supervisor:

  • The Muir Woods Shuttle has removed approximately 25,000 cars from our roads during the summer, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.
  • We are working hard on the Federal Bicycle & Pedestrian Pilot Program, and are implementing path development, education programs and large capital projects all over Marin County. We will invest at least $20 million in the next 4 years and should be able to open the CalPark Tunnel by 2009!
  • Our Community Choice Aggregation project proceeds very well, and with my leadership and support, Marin County should be able to obtain our electricity from 100% renewable sources in the first year!
  • We created a win-win policy for St. Vincent's & Silveira, saving it from excess development and car trips while ensuring development returns for the property owners, and urgently needed affordable senior housing.
  • Our new Countywide Plan received awards from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the American Planning Association for leadership on sustainability and climate protection.
  • We are reducing retiree costs with new health and retirement plans, and by carefully checking disability cases.
  • We are making real progress on development and implementation of trolleys, shuttles and other non-car transit systems in the County.
  • Campaign finance & reporting rules will be updated for the County later this year.
  • The Marin Housing Authority faces critical challenges, but we will meet them in a creative way that builds financial security and protects Marin's low income residents.
